PRE-TRIP OPTION
Arrive early and take advantage of our optional pre-trip excursion to the famous sand dunes of Sossusvlei before your trip. This trip appeals to those who enjoy wildlife, and the open spaces of the scenic Namibian desert. Night sky lovers will have clear nights to enjoy star gazing.

Excursion Day 1
Windhoek

Excursion Day 2
Sossusvlei
Van: 350 kms, mostly gravel.
Accommodation at Sossusvlei Lodge.
Early departure to the Namib desert. We stay at one of our favourite luxury lodges, complete with eating under the stars and an open air grill cooking to order many unique game meats like zebra, springbok, warthog, kudu, eland, wildebeest, as well as vegetarian and vegan options.
Excursion Day 3
Solitaire
Van: 150 kms paved in the park
75 kms gravel.
Accommodation at Solitaire.
Another early departure to get to Sossusvlei Dunes, Dead Vlei Dune 45 and back to our hotel by noon. Lunch at Sossusvlei Lodge, then afternoon transfer to our next hotel in the small town of Solitaire, famous for best apple strudel!. Optional cheetah encounter in the late afternoon.
Excursion Day 4
Windhoek
Van: 150 kms paved.
100 kms gravel.
Accommodation at Windhoek.
This is the first day of the motorcycle trip, so we will try to arrive in Windhoek by lunch to start the paperwork and bike check out before having dinner with the full group at the hotel.
ITINERARY
DAY 1
Windhoek

Guests of Renedian Adventures arrive in Windhoek and are transferred to our lodge by shuttle. After a day of sightseeing of the capital of Namibia Safari Guides will go over our itinerary of the safari, local rules, and customs, as we dig-in to our first (but not last!) Namibian braai (“BBQ”).
DAY 2
Buitepos

After an introduction to the motorcycles, we ride east out of Windhoek on the Trans-Kalahari Highway towards the Botswana border. It is a straight road and quiet enough to give us a gradual immersion to riding on the left hand side of the road.
We stop to sleep just before the Botswana border. We spend the afternoon and evening with the area’s indigenous tribe, the San showing us their way of life, games, and dances.
DAY 3
Kalahari Desert, Ghanzi

We cross the border into Botswana in the morning and continue into the Kalahari Desert. This is the largest continuous stretch of sand in the world, and we will appreciate the tarmac roads that we’re on as the kilometers pass by.
DAY 4
Okavango Delta

We arrive at Maun by late morning. Maun is the gateway town for the Okavango Delta and has developed quickly in the last few years. The Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland delta and spreads over 15,000 square kilometers. It is the result of the Okavango River, having no natural outlet so it leaves its waters in the desert, creating a massive wetland wilderness.
The only real way to appreciate the immensity of the delta is to see it from above. We drop the bikes in town and hurry to the airport where a private chartered airplane takes us on a scenic flight over the Delta, before landing us at a private airfield where our bush crew will meet us.
We spend the night in a bush camp – tents, stretcher beds, and linens are provided. After dinner we are off for a night game-drive, seeing animals by spotlight that are normally not observable by the daylight tours.
DAY 5
Game drive, Maun
No Riding
Accommodation in Maun
Early start and a full morning of game viewing, including tea in the bush. We’ll be back in camp by noon for lunch. After lunch we have a three hour drive back to Maun and the beautiful lodge and full en-suite facilities!
DAY 6
Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, Nata

Easy day on the bikes today. Our eastward route takes us by the 12,000 square kilometer Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and bird sanctuary. We also have time to stop at the Boabob forest for lunch before continuing to our lodge at Nata for the evening, and another spectacular African sundowner
DAY 7
Victoria Falls

Our route takes us through the main farming areas of Botswana (there is typically plenty of game on these roads so our low mileage for the day will be appreciated when we stop often to capture them on film).We will head 75 kilometers to Victoria Falls in a bus after stowing our bike safely and take the tour of the majestic falls this afternoon.
DAY 8
Victoria Falls
No Riding
Accommodation in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
A free day in Victoria Falls means a few things for you. If you did not get enough photos of the Falls yesterday you can return there, or take advantage of the many tourist options that include bungee jumping off the bridge that connects Zim and Zambia, or perhaps a helicopter flight over the Falls? You could also river raft, or visit our charity in Victoria Falls.
We’ve had very positive personal feedback from riders who have walked with lions, and also visited the elephant sanctuary.
DAY 9
Chobe River, Kasane
No Riding
Accommodation in Kasane, Botswana
We return from Victoria Falls by noon and get ready for one of the animal highlights of the trip: a sunset scenic river cruise on the Chobe River. Elephants coming to drink at the rivers edge, crocs, hippos, they’re all here.
DAY 10
Caprivi
400km
Accommodation near Caprivi Strip
Today will be a long day with an early start to get us to Arvaikher, the provincial capital of Uvurkhangai to refuel resupply and hit dirt tracks to Orkhon valley now you will notice a gradual landscape change to small river crossings, alpine trees, and mountain passes. The heat will be left in the Gobi and the chills of the altitude will be apparent in the evenings.
DAY 11
Rundu, Northern Namibia

Accommodation near Rundu
We travel south west in the basin of the Kalahari Desert and explore what Northern Namibia has to offer. Lots of busy towns and African tribal villages on the way.
DAY 12
Etosha National Park
420km
Accommodation near Etosha National Park.
We head to the east gate of Etosha National Park and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Northern Namibia on the way.
DAY 13
Etosha National Park
No Riding
Accommodation bordering Etosha
We’ll explore Etosha National Park today – at one time the world’s largest nature reserve. Motorcycles are not allowed in the park, so we’ll be leaving the bikes at the lodge and use the safari vehicles for game viewing. Our last night out for dinner in Etosha suggests a special evening.
DAY 14
Windhoek

Our last day allows us to stop in Okahandja, home to the biggest craft market in Namibia. If you are interested in taking souvenirs home this is the time to purchase and put in the support vehicle to bring them to the hotel. By mid-afternoon the bikes are returned, we’re showered and ready for our farewell dinner at the quirky Joe’s Beerhouse, famous for its venison and German dishes like Eisbein.
DAY 15
Fly Out
Your last massive breakfast and panic to trade photos with your fellow riders before the shuttle for the airport comes to whisk you back home. We have had riders who wanted to stay and tour further in Namibia, or ride back to Cape Town. If you are interested in staying later, we can help arrange everything for you – just ask!
