ITINERARY
DAY 1
Kelowna
No riding.
Accommodation in hotel.
Arrival in Kelowna. We will arrange for your pickup from the airport and brought to our hotel. Our first meeting will be at 3pm to go over any paperwork for the trip and to make introductions to your fellow riders and crew.
DAY 2
Nelson
400km.
Accommodation near Nelson.
Easy day to start our journey as we leave the Okanagan Lake and her orchards, heading east over the Monashee Pass. We take the Needles Ferry to Nakusp and loop around several provincial parks before reaching Nelson for the night.
DAY 3
Banff
500km.
Accommodation near Banff
Another free ferry and one of the top-rated motorcycle roads in western Canada greet us on this day, our longest riding day of the trip. Stopping near the German-themed town of Kimberly for lunch, then north to Kootenay National Park, over the continental divide and onto a late afternoon arrival into Banff.
DAY 4
Jasper
300km
Accommodation near Jasper
The Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper is a world class stunner, and National Geographic has called it ‘One of the World’s Most Spectacular Drives’. Less than 300 kms separate the two national parks, but the ride will take most of the day due to scenic mountains and jade-coloured lakes as backdrops for photos, including Lake Louise.
We will visit the Athabasca Glacier and take a tour up onto the glacier sheet, as well as check in at Athabasca Falls. It is best not to rush this one and we will arrive in Jasper in late afternoon. Those interested in some more local visiting will go with the guide to check out Maligne Lake. We will sleep in Jasper, a very walkable, small town that has a great little museum!
DAY 5
Mt Robson
425km
Accommodation near Clearwater
Soon after leaving Jasper we get to the Yellowhead pass, and return to the province of British Columbia, and in less than an hour we will arrive at the Mt Robson Visitor Centre, allowing us to appreciate the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, and the headwaters of the mighty Fraser River. Continuing through Valemount and Blue River, we will sneak our way to near Hwy 97 for a swim in a refreshing lake, and end the day around a roaring campfire.
DAY 6
Whistler
350km
Accommodation near Whistler
Leaving early to make the most of this day, we get to experience the majestic Duffy Lakes Road on the way to Whistler, the site of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. We plan to arrive in the early afternoon, to allow some exploring of the nearby mountains for hiking, photography, or wandering the town.
DAY 7
Stanley Park, Vancouver
140km
Accommodation near Vancouver
Today is the most well-known driving road in BC, the Sea to Sky Highway, Highway 99. For us we will be going from Sky to Sea, as we descend from the mountains on oceanside, twisty roads, finishing with a loop of Stanley Park in Vancouver before checking into the hotel. The road is not long, less than 150 kms, but we will be sure stop at our favourite rest and photo stops to ensure you can document this day’s rides for your friends.
If you are motivated, city-aficionados can take the water taxi to Granville Island and the boutique shops there, or the up class shopping on nearby downtown, Gastown, Yaletown, or Kitsilano. Beach lovers only have to walk across the road to get to the beach!
DAY 8
Othello Tunnels
400km
Accommodation in Kelowna
Our last riding day brings us through the fertile Fraser Valley, and a stop at Othello Tunnels. These tunnels were cut from the granite cliffs in 1914 by the Canadian Pacific Railway connecting the Kootenays to the coast. Five impressive tunnels were cut out as part of the Kettle Valley Railway grade.
Our last stretch will continue over the Coquihalla highway, and back down to Lake Okanagan and Kelowna. We will check in the bikes, get cleaned up and head out with your new riding friends for one last great meal.
DAY 9
Fly Out
Breakfast at your leisure and check out by 10am. We will transfer to you the airport for your flight home, or help with any additional travel needs. Why not rent the bike for a few more days and explore more? We are happy to help make all the details.
